I've been a fan of the band Cake for over 20 years now, and they're still in constant rotation for me. There have been a few subtle references to them in my music over the years, but I finally got around to really embracing them. This EP started with a single song, just for something to do, and before I knew it I was recording more and more. Now I've got five songs - originally by Cake but arranged and recorded as ska/reggae songs by yours truly.

This is Piece of Cake.

Cake have a few rather popular songs. I didn't cover any of those. The reason is that their popular songs tend to be rather monotone in their main melodies, which means they are truly defined by the grooves. Since I was turning these all into ska or reggae songs, I was going to fuck with the groove and then I'd just be talking the same lyrics over a different backing track, and that didn't seem like the kind of cover I wanted to record. I hope you understand.
