I've been hosting a ska podcast called Hornpod. Our most recent episode "009 - Take Her To Jamaica" was all about mento. I personally didn't know a whole lot about mento going into it, but it gave me the opportunity to really listen to a bunch of it. It got to the point where I wanted to try my hand at recording a mento song of my own.

I turned to the Slackers for the source material. Over the course of a few hours I laid down track after track to turn their reggae song "You Must Be Good" into a mento song. I did my best to make an acoustic guitar sound like a banjo, and I'm pleased with the results.

You can download this for free. I don't want your money. But if you feel like someone should profit from this, go to the Slackers' bandcamp page. They've loaded it with all kinds of rarities. Buy some of those and help them out.
